PalaCinema Locarno
ALEJANDRO ZAERA POLO and MAIDER LLAGUNO-MUNITXA – Studio AZPLM, 2017
PalaCinema Locarno SA is the hub of audiovisual culture in Ticino, a unique institution in Switzerland.
It hosts five resident institutions in its spaces: the Locarno Film Festival; the CISA film school; the Ticino Film Commission; SUPSI's MINT robotics laboratories and a RSI antenna.
It includes three cinemas with more than 700 seats, and a lounge-restaurant.
The PalaCinema Locarno SA was inaugurated in 2017: it underlines Locarno's commitment and vocation for audiovisual culture, which has made Locarno the world capital of auteur cinema.
The building is an iconic work of contemporary architecture designed by architects Alejandro Zaera-Polo and Maider Llaguno-Munitxa of studio AZPLM and realised together with studio DF_DC Dario Franchini.
