The project is part of Casa Reschigna, a 17th-century building located on Piazza delle Corporazioni in Locarno. Access is through a granite portal that leads to an internal courtyard defined by a complex system of porticoes and loggias arranged on three levels and organized according to an L-shaped geometry. The space, located on the first floor, had previously been adapted as a dental office, with a series of interventions incongruous with the historic structure: lowered false ceilings, plasterboard walls, and functional compartmentalization that altered the perception of the space and concealed the original wooden beams. The operation involved the removal of all elements incompatible with the existing structure, with the aim of restoring spatial continuity and clarity to the pre-existing architectural features. The exposed wooden structure was recovered and made a unifying element of the project. The new floor plan configuration introduces a main work area and two bathrooms, meeting functional needs without interfering with the structural rhythm imposed by the roof.

The interior division was achieved through custom-designed furnishings. Work tables, a wall-mounted bookcase, and integrated storage systems were designed and built. The flooring was replaced with a new oak covering, chosen for its material properties and compatibility with the context. A custom stainless steel kitchen was installed in the vaulted room at the end of the floor, accessible via the gallery overlooking the courtyard. The space, compact yet featuring dual views and characterized by vaulted ceilings, serves as a support and social area for the study. The project included the complete overhaul of the technical systems (electrical and plumbing) and the meticulous restoration of the preserved historical elements. The project is a targeted redevelopment project, aimed at restoring the original structure and defining a new spatial organization consistent with the building's architectural identity.
