Luigi Snozzi with Livio Vacchini, 1963 -1965

The building is structured around a covered internal courtyard, accessible via an open ground floor that facilitates pedestrian traffic and access to the central courtyard. Above, four floors of offices are constructed with a load-bearing steel structure, partially painted a dark blue, and flexible aluminum façade elements that allow for a modular organization of workspaces. In the core of the building, seven concrete barrel vaults, with glass ends, naturally illuminate the central atrium. The entire complex blends discreetly into the urban context, connecting the residential area to the historic center, and serves as the headquarters of the USI Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) (now part of the Biomedical Center).
