Villa dei Cedri Museum
Arch. Nelusco Mario Antoniazzi, 1931
Villa dei Cedri, which began as a country house in the early 19th century, was transformed in the 1930s by the Milanese architect Nelusco Mario Antoniazzi into a refined bourgeois residence. His design gave the villa an eclectic and picturesque character, integrating the original neoclassical structure with a belvedere tower, loggias, portico and veranda, in dialogue with the surrounding romantic park. The intervention, far from the regionalism dominant in Ticino at the time, reveals international influences and blends elegance, landscape and architecture. Since 1985, it has housed the Civic Art Gallery, later the Villa dei Cedri Museum, maintaining its cultural and representative vocation in the urban context of Bellinzona.
