House in Cadro

This is the first project completed by Giraudi & Wettstein architects, later expanded by studio we architecture more than twenty years afterward. The house sits on the edge of the settlement, perpendicular to the contours along a steep slope, creating a landscape relationship with the Denti della Vecchia in the background and Monte Tamaro farther away.

The compact, articulated sculptural form has strong ties to the site. Extroverted elements open outward into the landscape, while more introverted aspects withdraw. Concrete is the connecting material. In the original house, the material is visible in the interior, while in the extension it is visible on the façade.

The overall project demonstrates architectural development and contributes to the densification of single-family home neighborhoods.
