Luigi Snozzi with Walter von Euw, 1974-76

The clients are a cultured, determined, and open-minded mother and daughter. The terrain is a steep, curving slope, bordered by a stream and overlooking Lake Verbano. Luigi Snozzi draws on these two conditions to create one of his masterpieces: a building structured around a minimal program, amplified by the architectural promenade that accompanies the visitor as the magnificent lake landscape gradually unfolds. A powerful and exemplary work, it transforms the theme of the single-family home, the protagonist and driving force behind the decay of our suburbs, into a tool for territorial development.
