Villa Igea and garden pavillion
Arch. Eugenio Cavadini, 1927
Buzzi Architetti, renovation and extension 2015-18
The ecclectic villa designed in 1927 by Eugenio Cavadini as a place of work and home for a doctor and his practice is transformed into an architectural studio and residence. The restoration reveals its material substance by offering an interpretation of the twentieth-century and bourgeois spirit thanks to a chromatic intervention in every room of the villa. The old garage is converted through the addition of a new wooden volume. The garden pavilion becomes an atelier for the ceramist Giulia Beretta. The new transparent body is entirely prefabricated and dry-built. Raised from the ground it rests on a few granite plinths laid on gravel. A calendered iron sheet serves as the roof and conveys rainwater.
