Arch. Alberto Tibiletti and Arch. Livio Vacchini, 1972-24

Architetti Tibiletti Associati, 2000

The extension and renovation project for the Centro Macconi in Lugano completed the original 1970s building, designed by Livio Vacchini and Alberto Tibiletti. The 1998 intervention added a new glass body on the right side, previously incomplete, distinguishing it with an autonomous but harmonious architectural language. The new façade, composed of prefabricated glass cells without an external frame, creates a unified, abstract and light effect, in chromatic dialogue with the existing building. The 2000 renovation, on the other hand, concerned the north and south façades, restoring the original identity through faithful materials and proportions, integrating contemporary solutions for efficiency and comfort.
