Saleggi-Boschetti River Park, Torretta sub-project
Officina del Paesaggio, 2020
Three beaches in the city! This project is exemplary of how river safety, increased ecological value and new urban usability can successfully coexist!
The project is part of a larger project concerning the renaturalisation and hydraulic safety of the Ticino river. A linear park within which, by working on the banks, the river is made usable in urban areas and Bellinzona is invited to rediscover its river identity. The vision guiding the project is to establish a geographical heart, a new public space on which to reorient the future development of the city.
By moving the embankments to three points, the project creates new beaches, precisely integrated into the urban context: Torretta, the most "urban" of the three, located at the height of Bellinzona's old town centre, connected to Monte Carasso across the river by a footbridge. The second is located at the height of the Cantonal Library and the school campus. The third, at the height of the concrete footbridge of the Bellinzona public baths.
