OPEN HOUSE SCHOOL
ARCHITECTURE GOES TO SCHOOL
Open House School is the educational programme promoted by the Open House Ticino Association to actively involve schools in the region and bring the new generations closer to architecture, the urban landscape and the quality of the spaces in which they live.
The initiative takes place on the day before the official opening of Open House Ticino and is dedicated exclusively to students of all levels. Schools can take part, by reservation, in guided tours of some of the buildings selected for the 2026 edition and for future editions of Open House Ticino. The activities are led by qualified guides and designed with an educational approach, adapting to the different school levels and the needs of the classes. Through direct experience of buildings and urban spaces, students are guided to observe, read and understand the built environment, developing a greater awareness of the territory and the urban landscape.
Open House School promotes active learning that stimulates critical observation, the reading of space and the ability to question the quality of places. Architecture thus becomes a tool to understand the territory and to reflect on the way we live together. The programme also aims to teach young people to care for the common good, strengthening their sense of civic responsibility, their bond with their territory and their sense of belonging to the community.
OPEN HOUSE SCHOOL 2026
The first edition of Open House School will take place on Friday 23 October 2026, the day before the Open House Ticino weekend. Classes will be able to choose from a selection of buildings and guided tours across Ticino, according to school level and the interests of the class. Visits are by reservation and places are limited.
BRING YOUR CLASS TO OPEN HOUSE SCHOOL
If you are a teacher and would like to offer your class a first-hand encounter with architecture and the territory, choose one of the available visits and book your class's participation. It is an opportunity to leave the classroom, observe spaces up close and discover how architecture helps to shape the places in which we live.
