Moving beyond the opposition between modernity and tradition, the intervention on the Corteglia farmhouse is more practical than theoretical. The approach is conservative: rediscovering a natural, direct and utilitarian way of building, without abandoning architectural exploration. It is an extensive maintenance project, made possible by the fact that the building remained in its original state until just a few decades ago. Bringing it back into use in a changed world may seem unlikely: this very incompatibility becomes the starting point. The service sector replaces agriculture, a new family takes the place of the farming family; the farmyard and courtyard once again become places for gathering. Continuity prevails: materials worn by time are reused according to their remaining value. Economic constraints reinforce the commitment to preservation.
