Ivano Gianola Architect, 2022

The new auditorium at Casa Pellanda was conceived as an independent space that complements the sixteenth-century residence, now used as a museum. Designed to host conferences, meetings and musical events, it is arranged over two levels and includes the main hall, a foyer and service areas. Wood, inspired in part by the Renaissance hall of Casa Pellanda, defines the interior and contributes to the acoustic quality of the space. On the exterior, the new building enters into dialogue with the historic structure through the use of local granite and the rhythm of the façade’s vertical slats, which echoes the old timber structure. Large openings connect the auditorium with the courtyard, which becomes the linking space between old and new.
