Aurelio Galfetti and Ivo Trümpy, first restoration by Aurelio Galfetti and Fredi Ehrat, second restoration by Carola Barchi Architect, 1960–66, first restoration 1985–1987, second restoration 2022–2025

The Biasca Kindergarten, designed by Aurelio Galfetti and Ivo Trümpy in the early 1960s, is organised into two identical teaching units, rotated 90° in relation to each other and connected by shared spaces. The project reinterprets the Catalan vault inspired by Le Corbusier, using it as both a structural and compositional principle: thin brick vaults articulate the interiors and define the building’s character. The classrooms are conceived as independent units, with their own entrances and spaces, while the dining hall, kitchen, playroom and rest areas occupy the central section. The relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces is an integral part of the design. In 1985–87, the building underwent a major renovation led by Aurelio Galfetti with Fredi Ehrat.

Photographs allowed only with respect for privacy: it is not permitted to photograph the faces of the children attending the facility, nor any materials, drawings or works by pupils that could allow them to be identified (for example names written on drawings or other works).
