Case di Ringhiera
Oxid Architektur, 2017-2021
The three new buildings create a place with a strong identity, while remaining open to interaction with the heterogeneous neighbourhood in which they are located. The five-storey “torretta” fits into the row of buildings lining the cantonal road, while the three-storey “casa di ringhiera” has a more intimate character, responding to the surrounding low-density residential context. The outdoor space acts as a connecting element, incorporating a playground, pedestrian walkway and neighbourhood square.
The “casa di ringhiera” also reinterprets the regional archetype, with a generous access balcony-veranda running around the large communal courtyard. The pair of buildings is constructed using prefabricated timber elements, promoting the economical use of resources.
The two existing underground garages have been retained and connected to create a shared parking facility serving all three buildings.
