Casa in Sonvico
Martino Pedrozzi Architect, 2008 - 2011
"The groundwork in this project is crucial: there is no plinth, it is replaced by the void beneath the structural system. (…) A bridge that rests on the ground at one end and on two piers at the other. The structural system is the essence of this project: dimensioned without emphasis, it renounces expressing its real complexity (prestressed slab, secondary structure) in favour of a single architectural order. (…) Besides regulating light and shadow, the structure makes it possible to organise an effective and intelligent typology around an introspective patio where one circulates without corridors. (…) To bring out the structure and expose the infill panels, however, a spark was needed: the tile, a banal tile. A little Milan, a little Paris, a little Portugal."
