DF_DC Architetti, 2019 - 2024

The hotel was designed by working with historic layers, recognising its 100-year existence and preserving fragments from different periods as a sense of depth. The intervention is based on addition, subtraction and “crystallization”, transforming spatial fragments into a new whole. Rooted in historical memory, where techniques of the past are brought back to evoke a sense of longing, in opposition to the evolution of hotels as places of monotonous replica. The project accepts the unexpected: relics from previous episodes are brought into play with the new, and past flaws are integrated as qualities. The exterior was re-conceived with semi-reflective green tiles, becoming both a new point of reference and a memory of times past through abstract reflection.
