Casa Moscia
Buzzi Architetti, 2017 - 2023
Casa Moscia, a small hotel village on Lake Maggiore, is a heterogeneous ensemble of buildings and functions, modified over time by partial interventions lacking a unified form. The project reorganises the complex and brings the structure into line with regulations, focusing on the renovation of the West wing (Ex Fabbrica) of the main complex. A new access balcony on two façades, a modular element that reorders circulation and elevations, mediates the relationship between lake and mountain. The access-balcony typology frees the interiors for brighter, airier rooms and through, multipurpose spaces. With the recent additions removed, the existing volumes become legible and the inner courtyard takes on the role of heart of the complex. The new chapel is set into the terraced garden, a sober place for reflection and contemplation.
