Locarno Monti - Centro Meteorologico, Padiglione specola solare

The new pavilion is part of the MeteoSvizzera Observatory complex in Locarno Monti and accommodates a multi-purpose space adjoining the Solar Observatory, providing support for scientific activities. The project responds to the characteristics of the site and to the need to minimise interference with meteorological measurements, seeking to integrate functional, climatic and technical requirements into a unified system. The external timber structure rests on a concrete foundation and forms two large porticoes with structural and climatic functions, establishing a relationship between the interior space and the surrounding landscape. On the roof, a grid organises the scientific equipment, turning it into a working platform that can accommodate the ongoing evolution of research activities and instrumentation.
The visit is limited to the new pavilion only and does not include the forecasting centre.
