Könz Molo Architetti, 2007 - 2008

The plot lies south of an ancient mountain village core, immersed in a flat vineyard that today mainly hosts single-family houses scattered in the greenery. The building fits into the context as a single-storey dwelling unit, like a pavilion in the greenery, with a compact timber volume resting partly on a concrete plinth. Following the line of the neighbourhood road, the house opens to the north, creating an intimate space at the back, bounded by a small chestnut grove. The project responds to the needs of a retired couple who wish to withdraw into nature, creating a low-energy, low-cost house. The living spaces are arranged in a linear body, with the bedrooms at the ends and the living room in the centre, extending outdoors with a veranda featuring large sliding windows. The building, made with a prefabricated timber-frame structure resting on a reinforced-concrete plinth, is clad with vertical larch battens.
