T/REX Architetti, 2019 - 2021

Situated on a steeply sloping plot at the foot of the hill overlooking the village, the house’s form is dictated by its relationship with the surrounding context, making the most of the view of the landscape and an ideal exposure to the sun. The stilted design anchors the house to the rock, without unduly altering the natural terrain. Entirely open to the south on the ground floor, the house opens out towards the woodland to the north on the upper floor. The choice of materials and construction method – based on prefabricated steel and timber elements – is dictated by a contemporary interpretation of a rural structure, but also by logistical factors such as limited access to the building site, as well as pragmatic considerations such as the speed and precision of pre-assembly in the workshop.
