Casa Snider in Verscio
Luigi Snozzi, Livio Vacchini, 1964 - 1968
Casa Snider, designed by Luigi Snozzi and Livio Vacchini for lawyer Snider and his large family, stands on the edge of the historic centre of Verscio. The project dates from 1965: the building has a rectangular form with a 2:1 ratio, oriented according to the slope of the land and the rows of vineyards. The volume establishes a dialogue with the existing buildings, avoiding the appearance of an isolated object.
The interior spaces are organised around double-height areas, reinterpreted porticoes and sliding panels, encouraging visual connections between the rooms, the inhabitants and the landscape. The structure and materials further reinforce the character of the house, while the garden, retaining wall and vine-covered pergola extend its dialogue with the rural tradition and historic fabric of Verscio.
