House with Orchard
Martino Avilès Architetto, 2026
The house is located on the mountain slope, right where a vineyard used to be. After recreating terraces on the land, these serve as the organizing layout for the entire project: the house is arranged in three parallel bands, and the surrounding agricultural area has been converted into an orchard, with planted trees following the same geometry.
The house features a wooden structure: on the ground floor, the pillars open up the view from the living area toward the orchard and the distant landscape, while on the first floor, wide perimeter walls enclose the night area, giving it an intimate and protected character.
The orchard hosts ancient local varieties of apple trees. It was created in collaboration with the ProFrutteti association and the Manimatte winery in Bellinzona, which will transform the fruits into exquisite sparkling drinks.
