The project area includes the vast embankment built in the 1870s, between Massagno, Tassino, Besso and Bertaccio.
The project aims to overcome the urban divide created by the railway, transforming the area into a place of encounter and connection between the neighbourhoods uphill and downhill. Through a sequence of underground spaces, a panoramic terrace, stairs and underpasses, the route connects the city with the landscape, making the most of natural light and viewpoints.
The intervention also includes pedestrian and infrastructure links, the reorganisation of traffic and the redevelopment of the surrounding public spaces and parks.
The first stages involved the construction of the concourse, the terrace, the staircase connecting to the city, the funicular and the Besso underpass.
