Studio d'architettura Lorenzo Felder SA for Gruppo Architetti StazLu (Architetti Tibiletti Associati SA, Studio d’architettura Lorenzo Felder SA, Antonio and Luca Antorini SA, a Marca Terraneo architettura SA)
2016 - ongoing
The Lugano station area is currently undergoing a major architectural and urban redevelopment. As part of Open House 2025, the overall project will be presented, with particular focus on the initial phases: the station hall, the terrace, the connecting staircase, the funicular, and the construction site of the new Besso pedestrian underpass. Built in 1876 in a strategic location, the station today represents a break in the urban fabric. This infrastructural barrier has contributed to the marginalization of the neighborhoods on either side of the tracks, giving them a peripheral character. The project aims to overcome this divide and restore centrality to the area—not only as an efficient transit hub, but also as a place of connection, interaction, and exchange for the city.
